Foundation Stone for JSW Steel Plant

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made a significant visit to Jagatsinghpur district on Friday, marking a monumental occasion as he laid the foundation stone for what is set to become one of the world’s largest steel plants. The ceremony, held in Dhinkia near Paradeep, was graced by the presence of several notable figures including JSW Group Chairman Shri Sajjan Jindal, Shri Parth Jindal, Minister of Industries Shri Pratap Keshari Deb, and Chairman of 5T Shri V.K Pandian, among others.

The integrated green steel project, spearheaded by JSW Steel, holds the promise of driving economic growth in the region. With an estimated capacity of 13.2 MTPA, the project is anticipated to create around 30,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, fostering a robust ancillary and downstream ecosystem.

Pioneering Green Technology

This ambitious endeavor is not merely about steel production; it symbolizes a shift towards sustainability and innovation. The project aims to embrace a circular economy model and set global benchmarks for cleanliness, greenery, and technological advancement. Among its key components are a captive power plant, jetties with cargo-handling capacity, a cement manufacturing unit, and a modern township.

The Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO) has allocated 2,958 acres of land for the project, with a significant portion dedicated to preserving forests and water bodies. JSW Steel and JSW Group entities have committed an investment of approximately Rs 65,000 crore, subject to necessary approvals, to realize this ambitious vision.

A Testament to Odisha’s Progress

The ground-breaking ceremony witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with over 30,000 attendees including villagers, dignitaries, and industry experts. In addition to the steel plant, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stones for ReNew E-Fuels Private Ltd.’s green ammonia plant and Silox India Private Limited’s chemical plant, further bolstering job creation and industrial development in the region.

In his address, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik emphasized that development has become synonymous with Odisha’s identity. He lauded the 5T initiative for propelling the state’s progress across various sectors including industry, infrastructure, education, and healthcare. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude towards the industrialists for their investments, recognizing the pivotal role they play in shaping Odisha’s future.
