Amazon Seller Fees: A Closer Look

Hey there! If you’re a seller on Amazon India, you might have heard about some adjustments coming your way. From April 7, 2024, Amazon is shaking things up with Amazon seller fees structure, and it’s important to understand how these changes might affect you.

Let’s break it down. Right now, whenever you sell something on Amazon, you pay fees – storage, shipping, returns, and a seller fee, to name a few. Amazon’s recent notification talked about tweaking the Amazon seller fees, touching on everything from category charges to long-term storage costs and refund fees. Just a heads up, though: the 18 percent GST isn’t included in these changes.

Amazon Category Fee Changes

Now, onto the nitty-gritty. Some categories are seeing a bump in Amazon seller fees. For example, if you’re into selling home improvement stuff, your fee jumps from 9 percent to 13.5 percent. Luxury beauty items are also getting a makeover, switching from a flat 5 percent fee to a tiered system reaching up to 10 percent. And hey, if you’re in the sleepwear game, get ready for a fee increase from 11-15 percent to 13.5-19 percent. Musical instruments and flip-flops aren’t spared either, with fees going up to 10.5 percent and 15 percent respectively.

Amazon Fee Reductions

But wait, it’s not all bad news. Amazon is also cutting some fees. Take inverter and batteries, for example – their fee is dropping from 5-5.5 percent to a flat 4.5 percent. And if you’re in the baby apparel business, fees are seeing a slight dip from 11-21 percent to 11-20 percent.

Wondering why the change? Well, Amazon says it’s considering the big picture – stuff like inflation, interest rates, and how much it costs to run the show. They want to keep the marketplace buzzing while helping out small and medium businesses across the country.

Big players like Mamaearth and Boat, who rely on Amazon for a chunk of their sales, will feel the pinch of these higher fees.

Oh, and there’s more. Amazon’s saying goodbye to its zero-fee fulfillment policy, which means you’ll have to pony up shipping fees for standard-sized shipments over Rs 20,000 starting April 30, 2024.

As the seller fees shuffle around, sellers and shoppers alike need to keep an eye on what’s changing. These adjustments show Amazon’s commitment to keeping things fresh and competitive in the Indian e-commerce scene. So buckle up, adapt, and let’s see where this ride takes us!
